V/H/S

V/H/S is a horror anthology that was released this month. I am a huge fan of the Found Footage sub-genre of horror, and also a fan of anthologies, so this movie was a real treat for me.

We start off with the first segment, or wraparound segment (the story between the stories). It is basically a group of guys who do bad things on camera; Destruction of property, vandalism, etc. They are hired to go to a house and steal a specific tape. When they get there, there is a room with numerous tapes, tvs, and vcrs. Most of the guys look around the house for more tapes while leaving one guy in the room alone. He begins to put tapes in the VCR. Each tape contains a segment for the movie.

                                                             Segment 2: Amateur Night-

This is my 2nd favorite in the entire movie, and is easily one of the most suspenseful. 3 guys go out to a club, one of them wearing a hidden camera in his glasses. They bring home 2 girls, but one of them is a little more than they bargained for.

                                                    Segment 3 : Second Honeymoon-

This one is slow moving, but there is a payoff that makes it worth the wait. A couple is on a 2nd honeymoon and there is someone following them. I'm not going to say much more as I don't want to give it away. This segment has probably the most gory scene of any of them.

Segment 4 : Tuesday The 17th
This one is a good one for the fans of the old slasher films. A group of young adults go for a trip into the woods, only to find out they are not alone. This one will definitely leave you with questions, however it is still very enjoyable.

Segment 5 : The Sick Thing That Happened To Emily When She Was Younger
This one is different from most found footage movies. The entire segment is done with webcam/skype chats between Emily and her boyfriend. Emily has just moved into her apartment and strange things are happening at night. Her boyfriend is out of town and she is contacting him to tell him about what is happening. It's a pretty cool segment, and possibly the creepiest one of the bunch.

Segment 6 : 10/31/98
This segment follows a group of 4 guys going to a Halloween party. Similar to the Amatuer Night segment, the pov is part of one characters outfit. His costume is a teddy bear nanny cam. The 4 guys are headed to a party, however they end up at the wrong house and stumble upon things that are way more than they could ever imagine. This is my favorite segment of the bunch. Fast paced, intense, and good special effects.

Usually, in the case of these anthology style movies, there is at least one segment that isn't very good at all. Not this one, I thought all of the segments were great. Having the house full of tapes also makes for many possibilities of there being one or more sequels. I highly recommend this movie to any horror fans. Let's just hope for a sequel!
