'The Gate' is one of the first horror movies I remember watching as a kid. I remember it scared the hell out of me, but at the same time, I loved it. We start out with a young Stephen Dorff playing Glenn. When a tree falls over in his back yard, he and his nerdy friend Terry find a geode in the hole where the tree used to be.
Later on, Glenn, Terry, and Glenn's older sister, Alexandra are left alone for the weekend while the parents go away for the weekend. Surprise surprise, Al has a party. During the party, Glenn and Terry crack open the geode, leaving an imprint on a toy with words on it, they read the words and hell breaks loose... literally. Slowly strange things start to happen, including tiny demons coming out of the hole in the back yard. They opened a gate to hell. I won't give much more away, but it's a pretty good movie.
