The Shrine

This was a movie that well exceeded my expectations. A group of friends travel to Poland to look for a missing friend who was last seen there. After reading a journal he left, they travel to a small town that he had mentioned with a mysterious fog. Once there they are greeted by a hostile group of people who want them to leave. They find a back way into the town and decide to investigate the area of woods with the mysterious fog. Once inside they come across this creepy statue, or shrine.

After seeing this statue, strange things start happening, including the towns people chasing after them.

I won't give away much more, but it comes to a very climactic ending. As I said, this movie caught me off guard. From the summary I read online I wasn't expecting much, but this movie quickly became one of the best horror movies I've seen in some time. I highly recommend it.
